His wife is Micki Mortensen with whom he has been married for 39 years now.
Reports suggest that Chris got married to Micki after dating her for just 1 year.
They tied the wedding knot on September 30, 1984, and have been together in all the ups and downs of life.
Micki stood strong and tall with Chris when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2016.
They got married in an intimate ceremony in the presence of their cherished family and friends and a caring pastor.

Throughout the years, Chris and Micki have celebrated several milestones including the birth of their son, Alexander Christian Mortensen.
Alexander aka Alex was born on November 24, 1985. He is a former quarterback, football coach, and Offensive Coordinator of the UAB Blazers.
During his college years, Alex played for both Arkansas and Samford. He was associated with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent.
Later in 2012, Alex transitioned his career to coaching and started working as the Passing Game Coordinator for New Mexico Highlands University.
Alex was a coaching assistant with the St. Louis Rams in 2013 and in 2014, he was an offensive graduate assistant at the Alabama Crimson Tide.
He started working as the wide receivers coach for the Birmingham Iron in 2018.
Alex was appointed as the Offensive Coordinator of the UAB Blazers by Head Coach Trent Dilfe on December 2, 2022.
Chris and Micki don’t have any other kids except Alex.

Chris Mortensen’s Health Condition
While Chris was inclining his career to new heights and relishing a blissful family life, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2016.
Following his long battle with cancer, he decided to leave his job in April 2023.
Recently, Chris tweeted about his retirement on X, formerly Twitter, writing,
“Excited about another season but it’s time to reveal after my 33rd NFL draft in April, I made a decision to step away from ESPN and focus on my health, family and faith.”
He continued,
“The gratitude and humility is overwhelming. It’s not a classic retirement. I’ll still be here talking ball. It’s just time. God Bless you all.”
