The actor revealed that his parents were in an abusive relationship which became the reason for his dad’s demise.
During that time, his mom wasn’t dating a good person. His dad went to their house when he wasn’t supposed to so they got into an altercation because of which Deric’s dad was shot.
This incident created some resistance in Deric towards his mom as he had to grow up without his father.
Deric blamed his mom for the reason behind his dad’s death so he had not so good relationship with her while growing up.
The actor then added in the podcast that it was all in childhood and he loves his mom to death.
Deric’s mother’s name is Donna Marie Augustine. He even named the main character in his novel Nawlins after his mom Donna.
Donna passed away on January 12, 2014, at Eunice Manor in Eunice, LA.
